Adult Creativity & Imagination Center
|
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Creativity Imagination Center. This project is the culmination of the vision, work, time and energy of many people, both past and present to Josephine. The Center is a place for residents, children, staff, volunteers, and visitors to enjoy creativity, exploration and social interaction. Residents have the opportunity to improve daily living skills, enjoy continuing education and have reminiscing experiences. The Center uses many elements of the Montessori Philosophy. The Montessori Preschool children interact with the "Montessori adults"! It encourages dignity, encouragement, beauty, sensory exploration and repetition. Each experience moves from simple to complex, thus encouraging success for all. Dr. Cameron Camp of the Myers Research Institute in Ohio has been doing research in this area for 13 years. We have been talking with Dr. Camp this past year and have found his input invaluable. If you would like to know more about this research you can go online at www.myersresearch.org. Read a recent article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper regarding Dr. Camp's research and seniors with dementia. Please come and visit our new Creativity Imagination Center. It is located on the first floor in the Activity Center. For more information or the opportunity to volunteer call Diana Koob, Director of Activities at ext. 139. |
