Estate Giving and Our Endowment Fund

We are especially thankful for the many donors who include Josephine in their Estate Planning. Your gift can be added to the Josephine Endowment Fund, which enables Josephine to continue it's mission of over 100 years service to the Stanwood / Camano Island community. Undesignated Gifts

Josephine has a long history of serving the needs of the elderly in our community. From the day we first opened our doors in 1908, Josephine has remained committed to a central mission: responding to changing needs in our community and providing the highest quality of life for the people we serve. Undesignated, “where needed” gifts offer us the most flexible way to meet the needs of those we serve.

Good Samaritan Fund

This program currently provides for residents who cannot afford to pay for personal needs such as eyeglasses, special equipment, clothing, and participation in outings. Now, however, the need for support has deepened and expanded dramatically. More and more people are falling through the cracks – people who have inadequate resources to pay for vital services and yet do not qualify for government-funded services. A strongly funded program will assure residents, clients and children that their needs will be met. Substantial, ongoing support of this fund will be vital for the support of Josephine’s services.

Scholarship Fund

The Josephine Scholarship Fund was originally set up by the Board in 1967 in memory of Esther Sande, RN, a former Josephine employee. The fund was used to assist staff to pursue education in the field of nursing. In 1991 the fund was expanded to include educational pursuits in any field related to human services. At the same time, additional contributions were received. The name was then changed to the Josephine Scholarship Fund. Financial support for the fund comes from the interest on the original Esther Sande funds and other private donations. Josephine is pleased to be able to have scholarship funds available to support staff in their educational pursuits. The gift of education is one that keeps on giving. Not only are our staff growing and learning, our Home, our residents and our children are the beneficiaries of their new talent and skill.

Care Team Ministry

Care Team Ministry, a program that helps congregations and other community service groups to care for loved ones in their homes, is provided at no cost by Josephine. It is a non-revenue generating program funded out of Josephine’s operational budget. Given the current financial challenges Josephine faces, new funding sources will help to ensure the continuation of this vital program.
